This is the private collection of William Burdon-Taylor, grandson of the actors Charles Mortimer and Greta Wood, and the great grandson of the actor, Charles Neil Mortimer.

I had a lovely couple of days at the Cadbury Research Library at the University, looking at their fabulous collection of scrapbooks, detailing London plays of the 20th century, many of which included information about Charles Mortimer and Greta Wood. There were 66 items available, but such was the interest, that I could only look at 25 in the time I was there. A further visit is essential.
I am very grateful to Ivana and her team, for arranging my visit, and making the files available for me to see. I highly recommend other interested parties to make a visit to this remarkable collection.

Unless stated, the newspaper articles come from the British Newspaper Archive, without whom, I would not have learned more about the careers of Charles, Greta and Charles Neil. I am very grateful to the website and the staff who I have had contact with. Images have been reproduced with kind permission of The British Newspaper Archive (www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk). Thanks, Vicky and Michael.
