New Psychological Drama. The Repertory Players seem to be making a speciality of psychlogical thrillers. It was they who sponsored the grimly imaginitive "A Murder Has Been Arranged' and an earlier offering of theirs was the intellectual shocker "Rope". Next Sunday evening, at the Phoenix Theatre, they will produce a new play by the author of "Rope", Patrick Hamilton. It is called " John Brown’s Body,” and in it Ernest Milton is to depict man who becomes a murderer through another's suggestion, and finally commits suicide. Also in the cast will be that fine character actor Edward Chapman, Andre Van Gysegheai, Richard Gray, Charles Mortimer, Minnie Rattier, and Elizabeth Allen. Reginald Denham, who produced " Rope,” will also produce this new play. There is hardly any doubt that it will put on for a regular run as soon as a theatre is found for it. |
