The Stage - 9 February, 1939. - The Richmond Theatre, London.
"Other good portrayals come from Charles Quartermainein a polished study as Count Montifiore, George Bishop (Lamonte), Margaret Damer (Grand Duchess Marie), Stella Bonheur (Tamara), and Charles Mortimer (Burgomaster)." From The Era of 9 February, 1939.
I Am the King. Richmond. February 6. In his new play Cyril Campion has, it seems, rewritten all the Ruritanian romances ever seen. In plot, form, and character there is not one touch that can stimulate either imagination or ideas, though there is a good effort not to be falsely “theatrical." Andrew Osborn and Stewart Grainger sport Ruritanian uniforms and spout Ruritanian dialogue with aplomb. M. R. |
